Winter has officially begun! As much as I dislike it, I am getting a lot better at embracing the season. One of the few plus sides to the cold weather and earlier sunsets is leaning into comfort – a slower pace, more cozy clothes, and hunkering down at home. Reading The Little Book of Hygge a few years ago helped me reframe my view. Hygge is a Danish word that refers to finding comfort, joy, and warmth in simple, soothing things. It’s hard to translate into English because it’s more of a ” sense ” or feeling.
A perfect example would be bundling up and going for a walk with Jack on a cold day, then coming home to make my favorite grey lady latte (vanilla and lavender) and curling up on the couch by the fire. Or getting into your pajamas early, making a cup of chamomile tea, lighting a candle, and cozying up with a book before bed – there truly is no better feeling.

In the spirit of Hygge, I thought it would be fun to share a few cozy pieces, new and old, that might make this winter season a little more enjoyable. Starting with this classic fluffy robe I’ve had for a few years now, but omg, it’s amazing. I love to put it on after showering or over pajamas when I’m just lounging around. Slippers are essential, but more specifically, these moccasins– they truly are the best. Also, never underestimate the power of a new pair of socks, ha. J.Crew makes some of the best tall socks, and these fair isle ones look so cozy.
I bought this pair of cotton cashmere joggers earlier this year, and now I own them in three colors – if you haven’t tried them yet, you will love them! What better to wear with joggers than a soft pullover like this cute light blue crewneck from Hill House or my favorite Dudley Stephens turtleneck. And finally, since winter is all about layering, I had to include my favorite snap fleece that got brought back again this year and a quilted sherpa jacket I have my eye on!
