I was so glad to hear how much you enjoyed the capsule wardrobes I put together last year, and as promised, I am finally getting around to creating one for winter. Winter clothing isn’t my favorite, especially when getting dressed in the North East. This is why having a capsule wardrobe to rely on can come in handy. If you’re feeling uninspired, I’d recommend taking a couple of hours this weekend to clean up your closet and put together your own capsule wardrobe of sorts.
Tan Wool Coat // Quilted Jacket // White Button Up // Fleece Turtleneck // Striped Tee // Cardigan Sweater // White Cashmere Sweater // Black Pullover // Skinny Jeans // Demi-Boot Jeans // Bow // Barrettes // Pearl Earrings // Sunglasses // Black Tote // Brown Crossbody // Tall Boots // Chelsea Boots // Black Booties // Uggs
What would a winter capsule wardrobe be without coats? A tan wool coat has been a staple in my closet for years. I find J.Crew has some of the best – the lodge and stadium styles are a classic. I also wear my black Patagonia jacket a ton in the winter and was recently gifted this quilted jacket which I’ve loved having as a dressier version of my Patagonia puffer.
My toxic trait is buying something in every color when I like the style. Point in case this fleece turtleneck, cashmere pullover, button-up shirt, and striped tee. Although including every color in this capsule wardrobe goes against the premise, my point is to find the staples you love and will want to wear on repeat.
Since winter is all about layering, pick a variety of tops in complimenting colors to mix and match. Right now, I’m leaning towards green, black, tan, and white, as you’ll notice in this capsule. Sticking to a simple color palette makes it easier to put together more outfits with the same pieces.
Two variations of one of my go-to outfits are a white button-up and jeans with a sweater around my shoulders or a cardigan layered on top. You could style this outfit with skinny jeans and tall boots or demi-boot jeans and booties for two different looks.
