SHIFTING PERSPECTIVE

Like clockwork, I’m feeling myself again. I remember a big shift when Jack was 14/15 months old and I’m on the other side of the weaning rollercoaster with Rory. (Breastfeeding tends to buoy my emotional state and as it tapers off, it can be rough to get through.) But I’m really looking forward to a non-pregnant, non-breastfeeding summer. I’m dreaming of going to a beach by myself for an afternoon with a book at some point!

Because I just feel more like myself from the inside out, I have also felt a lot more comfortable in clothes. It sounds so superficial, but I do find that to be a missing piece to getting “back” to me postpartum. This outfit is me. I love everything about it– especially how I feel in it.

This shift dress is absolute perfection. A fantastic fit with a chic pattern. Fully lined and pockets! It feels like a modern update on the timeless shift dress. Something that I think has been very difficult to find lately! I wore this to get coffee with a friend and the barista in the cafe told me it reminded her of Portugal.

I have never tried this brand before and I’m impressed through and through. I found the dress to run true to size. It’s on the shorter side though, so if you’re over 5’6″ or have long legs, you might want to go up a size.

An absolutely frivolous purchase that I couldn’t resist when I saw it online. It’s a micro Boat and Tote keychain. (There’s also a bag charm version!) The bags are actually functional, which I think is hysterical and darling and unexpected. It doesn’t fit a ton, obviously but enough for spare change or a lip balm. I put in a mini miracle balm and it’s the perfect fit.

I will be packing this for summer vacations. It works with sandals for a daytime lunch, with sneakers after a day at the beach, or dressed up a bit for a casual dinner out.
