I went through a bunch of variations of this outfit before landing on this for the post. Sometimes, outfits that look amazing in person don’t end up photographing well or translating to “blog worthy.” I really wanted to showcase these velvet jeans in the best light. The truth is that you can pretty much wear them as you would jeans. They can be casual or dressed up with heels… perfect for holiday parties when you want to wear pants instead of a dress.
I was skeptical about how to wear them, but once I realized how versatile they were, I had the hardest time narrowing in on my favorite look. I decided to go for a dressier casual look. Something perfect for the daytime but a little more elevated than your typical jeans + vest look.

I love wearing t-shirts because they’re so comfortable and easy. That said, they’re generally harder to pull off in a non-casual way. Enter the tulip-sleeve shirt. I’ve been very into the bell-sleeve trend, and I’m hoping the tulip-sleeve makes a bigger appearance. Such a fun POP on an otherwise plain shirt.

The shirt layered perfectly under my J. Crew vest from last year. It’s available again this year, but not in this tan color. Here’s a similar fleece vest and another one that looks pretty close too.
