I put "fashion week" in quotes for a couple of reasons. First of all, I only went to one show and it was just a presentation. And second, fashion week has dramatically changed the past couple of seasons, so it's not what it used to be. For better or for worse! I've always enjoyed my experiences with fashion week, particularly when I was living in the city. However, I have determined that it's really just... not for me. Considering that I've forced myself to LOVE winter this year (or at least not hate it), I've been narrowing in on how to make it more enjoyable. Without a doubt, the number one thing that I think is going to save me sounds easy enough. (It's really just common sense.) Dressing. For. The. Weather. There's a rhymed Norwegian phrase that translates to English as, "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing." [show_shopthepost_widget id="2978520"]
I didn't get these photos up early enough! Everything is starting to sell out, but I'm kind of hoping that the retailers have squirreled away the stock to save for after these Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. If not, it's definitely worth checking your local stores if you can to track them down. [show_shopthepost_widget id="2928909"]
Backcountry is offering 20% off one item right now, and that includes PATAGONIA! This is the perfect opportunity to pick up a gift for someone (or yourself). Backcountry has the best gear on the market with free two-day shipping. I make a few purchases throughout the winter for new ski stuff, maybe a new coat to fill the void, and always for a gift or two. [show_shopthepost_widget id="2892771"]

I went through a bunch of variations of this outfit before landing on this for the post. Sometimes, outfits that look amazing in person don't end up photographing well or translating to "blog worthy." I really wanted to showcase these velvet jeans in the best light. The truth is that you can pretty much wear them as you would jeans. They can be casual or dressed up with heels... perfect for holiday parties when you want to wear pants instead of a dress. A couple of years ago I found the perfect plaid scarf at Target of all places. I actually think my sister found it if my memory serves correctly. It really was the perfect plaid, and I've been searching for a similar option ever since I put it on my blog. Every fall, I start to get inquiries about where to get that particular scarf. I have tried to find similar ones throughout the years, but they're never quite as cute. I found a super similar one today though! (It's the "Ivory Multi Plaid" option and I also love the "Bright Scarlett Plaid.") [show_shopthepost_widget id="2841701"]
December is one of my favorite months to dress for. There's just something so festive about the month and the cold air still feels exciting not miserable (yet). I partnered with Nordstrom for this post and it may be my favorite holiday look yet. I love that this look is a little bit elevated. It's somewhere between "festive sweater" and "fancy party attire." I wore this to run a few errands in Greenwich last week, but I really wanted to head into the city and go ice skating in Central Park! [show_shopthepost_widget id="2234648"]
Okay you know I love Tuckernuck. Not only do I just adore their entire team, they have the best curated product selection out there. (Seriously you could do all of your Christmas shopping from their website alone: pajamas for your goddaughter, log carrier for dad, Dopp kit for your boyfriend, cheese knives for your favorite hostess, and anchor stemless glasses for mom.) For this outfit, I went a bit outside of my comfort zone! I felt, dare I say it, trendy?! You be the judge! [show_shopthepost_widget id="2147895"]

This summer I really embraced the hat trend. I think I loved them for a few solid reasons. One, I have a huge forehead, so anything that covers that up a bit is gold. Two, they're great when you want to skip a hair wash day (guilty) or if the weather (humidity/rain) is going to be an issue. And three, they add a certain chicness to pretty much any outfit. So a win/win/win as far as I'm concerned. When summer ended, I was sad to have to put away my summer hats until next year. But I've been on the hunt for great fall options. I've been wearing my coats more regularly now. Even if it's warmer in the afternoon, I need one in the morning while walking the dogs at the very least. The easiest coat to grab for just about everything is a Barbour Beadnell. I have a few that I've been gifted/purchased over the years. You don't need more than one, though. They're solid coats that will last you a lifetime and well worth the price. (Imagine passing yours down to your kids one day!) Two years ago, I traveled to England and Scotland with Barbour to learn more about the brand. It was an unreal trip for a ton of reasons, but after touring the factory, I was completely obsessed with the brand and their dedication to quality. Tuckernuck recently put out their Barbour guide, and even though I already love the brand, I find it helpful to see how they style the outfits. (True story: I wish the Tuckernuck girls would style me every day.) It also inspired me to share how I've styled my Barbour coats over the years.
Summer is starting to feel like a distant memory. Yesterday, I got ready for a quick trip to the city. It didn't feel too chilly out, so I reached for this plaid wool skirt that I've been dying to wear. It ended up being so much colder than I anticipated. It was a super, super grey day outside which made it feel extra fall-y to me. All day I just wanted to sit by a fire under a giant blanket with a book! [show_shopthepost_widget id="1975828"]
