We planned a weekend at the lake expecting sunny picnics and long walks, but instead we got drizzly skies and foggy mornings. At first I felt a little disappointed—children and rain aren’t always the easiest combo. But once we embraced it, the whole trip took on a cozy, slow charm. We spent hours playing card games, sipping hot chocolate by the window, and reading stories snuggled under blankets.

It was a reminder that travel doesn’t have to be “perfect” to feel special. Sometimes the best memories come from unexpected weather and low-key moments. I think we’ll look back on that quiet, rain-soaked weekend as the time we were all forced to slow down and just be together. Maybe the weather knew exactly what we needed.
