Even though I’ve never pictured myself having a big wedding, I have saved some images on Instagram. Mike knows I’m Team Elopement and he’s Team 400 Person Wedding. (I’d like my parents, sister, grandma, and a handful of my closest friends to be at my wedding and Mike’s the kind of guy who has fifty friends from each stage of life that would make his invite list plus his family is ginormous.) We’ll probably meet somewhere in the middle. Right now, to be totally transparent, we have no idea when, where, or how we’re getting married. I told myself I could start worrying about starting July 1. The pandemic will absolutely play into our decisions though, mostly because my grandma is in her 90s and it’s important to me that she’s included.
I do think once we figure out the when and where, it may feel a bit more real. Right now it just feels… overwhelming and a bit hypothetical. One thing that really gives me peace of mind, pretty much no matter what, is how excited Mike and I are to build a life together. We have a good perspective on what’s important when it comes to a wedding and what isn’t… and that a wedding is how we will kick off our marriage, not that it’s an end-all-be-all day.
Some of the very few photos I’ve saved on Instagram. (I scrolled through with my friend and she said to me, “That’s it?” )
(I am infinitely more excited for flower girl dresses than I am for my own…)
No matter what we end up doing, I really want a tent. It’s the one thing that I know for sure I want when it comes to a wedding.
