I’ve found myself gravitating towards simple basics when it comes to my style. Fewer prints, limited colors, easy and uncomplicated. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve filled my closet with comfortable, everyday clothes that serve as staples. With a busy toddler, being able to feel good and still look put together is key! I typically wear lots of neutrals in the navy, black, camel, and grey space during the winter months and lean into wearing classic pieces like button ups and cashmere sweaters.
I love a good button up. Over the years, I have honed in on a few great ones, and the AYR shirt is one. It’s oversized in a *just right* kind of way and looks great with skinny jeans as a tunic. The shirts are long enough to fully cover your butt. And I love how the side swoops up.
Something about a cashmere sweater with jeans, flats, and pearl earrings feels so effortless and chic. This cashmere sweater has been in my closet for at least half a decade, and it’s still one of my favorites, which I think is the ultimate testimony. It’s not too slim or too boxy and is the perfect thickness to wear by itself or use for layering. An oversized striped pullover is another great staple. This merino wool sweater has been a new addition to my closet this year, and I’m a big fan of styling it with leggings and sneakers for a casual look or dressing it up with jeans and flats.
Investing in a couple pieces of outerwear you love is life-changing. I’d recommend getting a wool coat for nicer outfits and a quilted coat you can dress up or down. The saying, “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing,” may have some truth!
