A couple of weeks ago, I went to my friend’s Favorite Things Party! I hadn’t been to one in years and I forgot how much I love the concept. I need to have my friend come on to do some kind of post/interview because she is so inspiring. She moved to the area for a job and she didn’t know anyone, but fully immersed herself in the community through multiple book clubs and mahjong. I met her at a Galentine’s Day mahjong event– my friend and I were randomly seated with her at the same table. She was so nice and fun to play with that I ran after her out of the building when she left to get her phone number. The rest is history! At her party she brought all the friends she met over the past year– from work, book clubs, etc– to her apartment and we all exchanged our favorite things.
I loved meeting more of her friends and it was nice to get a sense of who they were based on what they brought. We all went around and shared why we brought we did and it was a cute way to get to know one another without it being awkward. By the end of the night, we left with favorite things and new friends.
Everyone brought great favorite things: fancy fidgets, viral notebooks and pens/highlighters, hair bows, beauty products, tortoiseshell bowls, the Wishbone Kitchen cookbook. We each brought three and came home with three different things. It felt like a mini Christmas and the next morning I was using– and loving– everything!!
While the boat for planning a favorite things party before Christmas has come and gone. I actually think this is something you could do at any point in the year… and maybe even the New Year is a great time to do it to think of it as like your favorite things from the past year as you start a new one!

I was having a hard time narrowing down my favorites to figure out what I wanted to bring to the party. Here are some of the ideas I had:
