This has always been one of my favorite seasons, but the older I get, the more I appreciate it. I’m really trying to be as “off” as I can this year and just have a happy summer with my boys. (Obviously I’ll still be working, but my goal is to be as present as possible!!) When I’m in “mom mode” I like to have outfit ideas ready I can just throw on and go in a jiff– during the summer when we’re out of our routine especially. These summer mom outfits are all right up my alley for different reasons!
Summer Mom Outfits
Dress // Tote ($35!) // Sneakers // Sweater ($30!)
I don’t know about you, but cute outfits like this always make me feel more “together” as a mom. I can see it being perfectly on the nose for specific summer outings like Nantucket and the Fourth of July, but also just a fun way to embrace play up the preppy side of my personal style! The ruffle hem on such a classic summer dress (that comes in four other colors) makes it feel more fresh, while the comfortable shoes are functionally a must. My favorite here is the $30 lobster sweater, which is a great option if you’re looking for an affordable novelty piece. Also, if you’re not a fan of the navy thread on the collar and hem, I read in a review that it can be easily snipped off!
Sweater ($59!) // Skort // Handbag // Sandals // Sunglasses ($50!)
The in-between dressiness level here is just right for a lot of my days, which are usually filled with shooting content, birthday parties, etc. I want to feel a little bit polished but not precious. This button-down shirt is full of darling details– ivory knit, navy scalloped trim, a subtle Peter Pan collar… it might just be one of my favorite summer tops out there right now. Skorts like this became a staple for me last year, and I still just love the balance of form and function. I already own these cute sandals in the cognac, and now I’m wondering if I need the ivory too! Jelly sandals are so nostalgic for me and they might just become a part of my summer capsule wardrobe.
Shirt ($18!) // Shorts // Bow ($12.50!) // Tote // Sandals ($50!)
This is the definitely the most casual of all the summer outfits– and full of summer staples! Like the denim shorts, which are long enough that I always feel covered without being *too* modest and have a flattering high waist. While bright colors aren’t always my forte, I do think the playful pink shirt is an appropriate departure from the basic white tee for the season. (Especially when it might just end up stained!!) There are a truly a rainbow of other stripes and solids to choose from too. I bought these $50 sandals for my own closet during the pandemic, and ended up liking them so much that I wrote a dedicated review. For $50, I think they’re just the thing for busy moms to wear to the lake, in the backyard, or while running quick errands!
